New sidewalk installation in Manhattan

Installation builds a new concrete sidewalk where there is no compliant one: after new construction or a gut renovation, when an old vault or cellar entrance is filled in, or when a closed curb cut needs the sidewalk line restored. The grade and drainage are set from scratch.

  • Premium 4000 PSI concrete, finished and cured
  • Expansion joints where the new work meets the old
  • Permit handling and coordination with your other trades

How new sidewalk installation works

  1. Review the site

We look at the building line, the curb and the neighbors, and agree the finished levels with you.

  2. Permit and schedule

We handle the permit and fit the pour around the rest of your construction schedule.

  3. Build

Excavate, compact, form, pour and finish, then keep the new sidewalk protected until it can take foot traffic.

What goes into a new sidewalk

A sidewalk only lasts as long as what is underneath it. We start with a compacted base, set the forms so water drains toward the curb rather than the building, and pour premium 4000 PSI concrete. It is the same standard we bring to all the sidewalk repair Manhattan property owners hire us for.

Where the new work meets existing concrete or the property line, we install expansion joints so the slabs can move without cracking. If your project also changes the frontage at an entrance, we set the transitions so there is no step or lip at the door. See ADA-compliant sidewalks for more on accessible details.

Questions about new sidewalk installation

Do you work alongside a general contractor?

Yes. Give us the construction schedule and we will time the pour around the trades that still need to cross the frontage.

Does a new sidewalk need a permit?

Yes. Building a sidewalk in New York City needs a sidewalk permit from NYC DOT, and we handle it as part of the job.

How soon can people walk on it?

We keep the new sidewalk barricaded until it can safely take foot traffic and tell you when it is ready to open.
